Carbon is a family of causal language / genomic foundation models from Hugging Face trained on DNA and RNA sequences, with released members including Carbon-500M, Carbon-3B, and Carbon-8B. The family uses a hybrid tokenizer with 6-mer tokenization for DNA and BPE for English text, and is designed for DNA generation, variant-effect prediction, perturbation discrimination, and long-context genomic tasks.
