X opens Original Content Rewards applications
X opened applications for its Original Content Rewards Program, replacing its previous revenue-sharing setup. Applicants select 10 posts from a roughly 20-post list, verify authorship, and accept rules targeting copied or lightly altered content.

TL;DR
- X has retired its Revenue Sharing program in favor of Original Content Rewards, according to ozansihay's rollout post.
- The application asks creators to choose 10 posts that represent their work and attest to authorship, as Artedeingenio's application post describes.
- Entry requires Premium, 500 verified followers, and 500,000 verified Home Timeline impressions over 90 days, per ozansihay's account and GlennHasABeard's eligibility screen.
- Payouts are shaped by Premium Home Timeline impressions, viewer subscription tier, and originality, according to levelsio's payout screen.
- Submission leads to an account-review state before approval, visible in awesome_visuals's review screen.
One applicant said the app surfaced roughly 20 older posts, apparently at random, before asking for 10 picks awesome_visuals's description of the screen. An interactive Token Tycoon slot machine swaps fruit for AI-company logos and was posted as a threshold-chasing portfolio piece by AIandDesign.
The 10-post application
Applicants choose from a preset group of posts rather than freely assembling a portfolio. They then confirm the selections are their own work and accept the program rules.
The candidate pool contained about 20 previous posts and appeared random to one applicant, who expected a subsequent account-wide check awesome_visuals's description. Artedeingenio separately said some favorite posts never appeared in the selection Artedeingenio's reply.
Early threads show three states moving through the rollout:
- Confirmation: Icreatelife posted a received-application notice in Icreatelife's application post and another update in Icreatelife's follow-up.
- Submission and review: bennash wrote “Submitted” in bennash's post, while awesome_visuals marked an application complete in awesome_visuals's post and later replied about it in awesome_visuals's reply.
- Screen-recorded flow: techhalla's application clip shows a creator submitting and receiving a notification, with a later reply from techhalla in the same application conversation.
The 500K gate
The entry conditions shown to creators are:
- Premium, Premium+, or Premium Business membership.
- At least 500 verified followers.
- At least 500,000 verified Home Timeline impressions in the past 90 days.
Replies are excluded from the impression total, as GlennHasABeard's 309K progress screen makes explicit.
The eligibility screen says existing Revenue Share members could apply from September 8 in GlennHasABeard's screenshot. A Kahawatungu rollout report says the prior program stopped taking new signups on August 7 and wrapped on September 7, while Daily K2's coverage also dates the transition to that window.
The payout formula
The payout screen lists four mechanics:
- Payments process every two weeks.
- The minimum payout is $30, and earnings do not roll over.
- Only Premium users' Home Timeline impressions count.
- Premium+ impressions are worth more than Basic impressions; originality also influences earnings.
Original-content rules
The agreement makes originality a program condition, not merely a recommendation:
Do
- Publish content that has never appeared on X.
- Use Quote Repost or Video React when sharing somebody else's work.
Do not
- Download and re-upload another X user's content.
- Coordinate reach-boosting with other users.
- Use AI to automate posts or replies.
ozansihay's rollout post adds the practical exclusions: re-uploaded video, lightly rewritten copy, cosmetic filters or text additions, and aggregation from other accounts. The agreement's AI clause specifically names automated posting and replying.
Account review
Submitting the 10-post set does not produce an immediate decision. The app shows “Application Under Review” after submission.
bennash shared an acceptance notification in bennash's post. The same creator's recent output spans a Chudley rap animation in bennash's acceptance post and a Cincinnati fountain photograph, the kind of format range that a post sample can either capture or miss.
LLMJunky said the system presented throwaway posts that did not represent the account in LLMJunky's complaint. That complaint matches Artedeingenio's report that favorites were absent from the candidate list in Artedeingenio's reply.
Token Tycoon
AIandDesign says Token Tycoon is a working digital fruit machine with AI-company logos, HDR graphics, Three.js, and an 80% return-to-player rate. The creator says OpenAI Astra produced the machine's design and the work took several hours, then asked viewers to help it reach the admission threshold.
