GPT-6 Astra controls Adobe apps in creator demos
Creators report Astra writes scripts and carries out edits in Adobe apps. Demonstrations show it operating Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, and Krita through desktop or MCP workflows.

TL;DR
- Astra is appearing as an operator inside design software: icreatelife’s Photoshop portrait test gave it a photo reference, while higgsfield_ai’s Illustrator run shows it building a native document and completing an export.
- The reusable path is code. In a reply about the Photoshop workflow, icreatelife said Astra wrote a script in one pass, leaving Photoshop to do the subsequent work with little token use.
- After Effects can start from a script and end in editable pieces: icreatelife’s script response names a downloadable
.jsxfile, while higgsfield_ai’s reconstruction test puts motion elements into separate transparent compositions. - Reference material is doing real work in the 3D examples. bilawalsidhu’s Blender test supplied a photoscan and texture, then reported a rebuilt room with procedural shaders rather than downloaded assets.
- The rollout is still uneven. icreatelife’s access reply says a ChatGPT subscription was required for this route, alongside OpenAI’s staged availability.
The After Effects script screenshot contains a five-scene motion-graphics kit, including a neon portal and hyperspace tunnel. higgsfield_ai’s Krita demo moves the same operating model into a paint app through Higgsfield MCP.
Two routes inside Adobe
icreatelife describes two ways of getting Astra into Adobe workflows. The script handoff is the more practical reveal because it turns a natural-language request into a reusable app-native file.
- For simpler jobs, icreatelife’s explanation points to Adobe connectors inside ChatGPT.
- For complex jobs, icreatelife’s follow-up says the model writes a script, which is then run in the target app.
- The creator says in another reply that the model spends few tokens on the script while Photoshop, After Effects, and other desktop tools perform the execution.
Mouse and native documents
The Photoshop demos put a reference image into the app and let Astra work through the interface. One longer portrait run records the cursor painting directly in Photoshop.
A separate test from higgsfield_ai gave Astra a Napoleon image and only a mouse. Illustrator is a step beyond a flat export: GlennHasABeard’s first vector test shows a prompt-to-vector pass, while higgsfield_ai’s Illustrator run says Astra drew every element, built the native file, then routed around a frozen file picker through Finder to export.
After Effects JSX
The compact motion-graphics demo began with a request for striking special effects in After Effects.
The Mind_Bender_FX.jsx file in icreatelife’s chat response defines five animated scenes:
- Neon portal, with rotating rings and orbiting sparks.
- Hyperspace, with accelerating star streaks in a tunnel.
- Light ribbons, with intertwined neon waves.
- Orbital core, with rotating ellipses and pulsing energy.
- Glitch reveal, with fragmented color slices resolving into a title.
Higgsfield took a longer route in its After Effects reconstruction test: it says Astra analyzed a reference video, rebuilt the motion to its timing, and assigned each element to an editable composition with a transparent background.
Reference-driven 3D
bilawalsidhu approached 3D with capture data: an old scan of a parents’ drawing room, supplied as an FBX with an 8K texture. The resulting Blender test was reported to source textures from the scan and use procedural shaders.
The iteration details are unusually concrete:
- The initial workflow reply says Astra used the diffuse map, with the normal map reserved for a later detail pass.
- In a follow-up on the same build, bilawalsidhu described two roughly 45-minute loops where a critic compared the output against multi-view images of the scan.
MCP workflows
Higgsfield’s MCP examples extend the same approach beyond Adobe. Its Krita demonstration has Astra paint The Creation of Adam through the Krita interface.
A 30-minute Higgsfield brief in a related production demo assigns Astra a nine-step character pipeline:
- Design a character concept with Higgsfield Soul 2.0.
- Build a textured 3D model.
- Import it into Blender.
- Retopologize the mesh.
- Create a UV map.
- Build a character rig.
- Evaluate production readiness.
- Redo earlier steps if the result falls short.
- Turn the character into a cartoon with Seedance 2.5.
That stack also produced a zoomable Newtonian solar-system model, according to the Orbital Atlas demo. OpenAI’s own game-building guide describes a parallel Codex workflow, where Astra helped turn gameplay and art direction into the space game Void Explorer.
ChatGPT access and caveats
On release day, chrisfirst called Astra official. OpenAI’s launch post says access begins with a limited set of organizations before expanding to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise users over the following days; the subscription detail in the Adobe threads comes from creators rather than an Adobe release note.
Dan Shipper, Every’s cofounder and CEO, wrote in Every’s Vibe Check that Astra could operate complicated apps for hours and made the first cut of its review video. The same report says high-effort runs can overbuild a simple interface with extra labels, buttons, and features.
One early tester, alliekmiller, also praised computer and browser use on stable workflows but said her interest in 3D work is accurate worlds grounded in reference points, rather than worlds generated from scratch. Every’s full review similarly frames the model as strong at software operation and visual design, with product-building instincts as the weaker edge.
