Qwen opens 3.7 Max Preview and Plus Preview on Arena with a #10 coding rank

Alibaba put Qwen3.7 Max Preview and Qwen3.7 Plus Preview live on Arena and the Qwen site, with Arena placing Max Preview #13 overall and #10 for coding. That gives engineers an early read on the next Qwen generation before any broader API or open-weight release.

TL;DR

  • Alibaba_Qwen's announcement put Qwen3.7-Max-Preview and Qwen3.7-Plus-Preview on Arena before any broader release details, positioning Alibaba as the #6 lab in text and #5 in vision.
  • According to arena's ranking thread, Qwen3.7 Max Preview opened at #13 overall in Text Arena, #10 in Coding, #9 in Expert, #9 in Software & IT, and #7 in Math.
  • arena's Vision Arena post also placed Qwen3.7 Plus Preview at #16 overall in vision, which is how Alibaba reached the #5 lab spot there.
  • AiBattle_'s site post said both preview models were already live on the Qwen website the same day, so the Arena appearance was matched by a direct product surface.

You can check Arena's leaderboard for the scoreboards, and arena's screenshots break out where Qwen3.7 Max Preview landed by category instead of just the overall rank. AiBattle_'s post also points to the Qwen site going live with both preview models, which makes this more than a leaderboard tease.

Arena rankings

The early read is stronger in category slices than in the overall chart. arena's ranking thread put Qwen3.7 Max Preview at #13 overall in text, but its best placements were #7 in Math, #9 in Expert, #9 in Software & IT, and #10 in Coding.

That coding rank is the most immediately useful number in the drop, because Alibaba surfaced the model on Arena before publishing a wider technical breakdown. For now, the public signal is mostly comparative position, not architecture or pricing.

Qwen website rollout

The other concrete change is availability. AiBattle_'s site post said Qwen 3.7 Max Preview and Plus Preview were live on the Qwen website on May 18, which means the preview was not limited to an Arena listing.

Alibaba_Qwen's announcement framed the Arena debut as a preview of the broader Qwen3.7 series and said a fuller release was still ahead. That leaves engineers with an unusually narrow first look: model names, leaderboard positions, and a live web surface, but no accompanying spec sheet yet.

Vision preview

The vision side is a separate model name and a weaker overall placement than text, but it still moved Alibaba's standing. arena's Vision Arena post placed Qwen3.7 Plus Preview at #16 overall in Vision Arena, enough to make Alibaba the #5 lab on that board.

That split matters because the rollout is already bifurcated in public: Max Preview is the text model showing up in coding and expert slices, while Plus Preview is the one attached to the vision ranking. Alibaba_Qwen's announcement named both models together, but arena's thread is what makes the text versus vision division explicit.
