GPT-6 Astra users report $200 plan limits hit within hours or days
Users say heavy Astra use consumed $200 plan budgets within hours or days, leading some to buy more plans or enable automatic credit reloads. One report says added credits did not take effect after banked resets were used.

A banked reset can refresh both five-hour and weekly windows, and can move the weekly reset date, according to OpenAI's reset explainer. OpenAI's Work and Codex documentation says Astra consumption changes with task, input and output size, reasoning setting, and Fast mode. In Kilo's production preview, the stated cost multipliers were the model's tendency to over-engineer and research too much.
The $200 plan
The posts use “$200” as Pro subscription shorthand, while OpenAI defines capacity by product surface. Its GPT-6 Pro Help Center page gives Pro $200 accounts 200 GPT-6 Pro Chat messages per week and 170 GPT-5.6 Sol Pro messages per day; both models also share a 200-message daily Chat ceiling.
Work and Codex have separate allowances, and Astra's draw there varies by workload. AIandDesign said in a reply that a $100 plan would get an upgrade once Astra arrived.
Banked resets and credits
One of the heaviest reported runs began when bentossell told Astra to take over a thread and finish it. The handoff in bentossell's task report says the agent had freed about 21 GB, retained CSV data, and updated its notes on completed checks and failed attempts.
bentossell then wrote in a follow-up that credits had no effect after two banked resets were used. OpenAI describes a reset as a one-time refresh of eligible usage windows, while its launch page says users and businesses can purchase credits for additional usage.
Thekitze said in a post about the load balancer that they would buy another plan each time capacity ran out. The same user initially reported burning three accounts and three resets in 12 hours in an earlier post, then clarified in a correction that shipped links existed on another site.
Games and archviz
Creator build reports attached rough resource traces to finished projects:
- Four games, including a Star Fox-style shooter, moving-train FPS, strategy level, and AI-founder deck builder, took two hours with the creator in the loop and about 20% of a $200-plan limit, according to petergyang's tutorial post.
- A Habbo-style clone used vector graphics and JavaScript for rooms, avatars, furniture, lighting, and shadows; om_patel5's report claimed it used about 42% of a $100 plan's weekly capacity at 2x speed, which the post estimated at roughly $42.
- Astra went from a building blueprint to a Blender model and then an Unreal archviz scene, LinusEkenstam's post said, with the author calling the run “tokenmaxxing.”
Task cost
At maximum effort, a comparison excerpt shared by Everlier says Astra uses fewer tokens than GPT-5.6 Sol but costs 75% more per task because its price is 2.5 times higher.
Kilo lists Astra's standard API rate as $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens in its production preview. That report puts Fast mode at roughly double the throughput for double the price.
Photoshop scripts
icreatelife's Photoshop demo used Astra to turn a reference photo into an illustrated portrait. In a follow-up, the creator said Astra wrote the script in one go, then Photoshop, After Effects, and other Adobe tools performed the rest of the work with little further model usage.
