X's Original Content Rewards: creators report lower payouts, including a roughly 35% drop in one report
Several creators say X's revised Original Content Rewards program reduced their earnings or produced payouts they consider inconsistent. One creator reported earning roughly 35% less than under the prior system, while others questioned how payouts are determined.

TL;DR
- A $240.12 reward paired with 79.3 million views, 3.5 million verified views and 300,000 watch hours in techhalla's payout post.
- LLMJunky reported a 35% payout decline despite growth in verified impressions and engagement in LLMJunky's comparison, then revised his estimate to about 45% in LLMJunky's correction.
- Early results also include a raise: AIandDesign received $261.73, shown in AIandDesign's payment post, and said it was more than double the prior round in a follow-up.
- The public counter tracks an entry threshold, not a visible rate: GlennHasABeard's log follows verified Home Timeline impressions, while the published rules narrow the paid measure further to qualified impressions.
X's program announcement said Revenue Sharing would end on September 7, with applications for existing members beginning September 8. The published-rules report defines a paid view as a Premium subscriber's sufficiently visible Home Timeline impression. No per-impression rate or reward-pool percentage appears in the published materials, according to Posthype's review.
techhalla's $240 Payout
techhalla reported 79.3 million total views, 3.5 million verified views and 300,000 watch hours alongside a $240.12 reward.
He said the prior program had paid about four times more with roughly 20 times less visibility.
In techhalla's reply, he said his biggest post "wasn't paid," without identifying whether it had been excluded or how it had been counted.
The $70 to $262 Payout Range
These self-reported payouts do not establish a common rate, but they show sharply different early outcomes.
- LLMJunky said verified impressions rose more than 50% and verified engagements 27%, while payment initially fell 35% in LLMJunky's comparison. He later put the decline closer to 45% in LLMJunky's correction.
- awesome_visuals posted a $70.39 reward and said a period with similar statistics had previously paid $400 in a reply to techhalla.
- AIandDesign said a $261.73 reward was more than double the prior round in AIandDesign's follow-up. He later contrasted it with one million impressions and 280,000 verified impressions over the same period, while techhalla received $240.12 in AIandDesign's comparison.
Prompt Curation
X introduced the replacement program as a way to reward original ideas, expertise, reporting, creativity and commentary in its launch announcement.
techhalla said a result can look like "slop" and still involve prompt curation, experimentation and sharing the prompts used. He added that X payouts were never his main income, but the new program had been worse than the previous one for him.
Qualified Impressions
The new system pays against a narrower count than public views, watch time or raw engagement. The rules report describes the mechanics this way:
- A qualified impression is a unique Home Timeline view by an X Premium subscriber when at least half of the post is visible.
- Paid or promoted views, repeat views from the same account and fraudulent activity do not count.
- Entry requires an active Premium tier, 500 verified followers and 500,000 verified-user Home Timeline impressions over 90 days.
The Posthype review says X has not published a rate per qualified impression or a pool percentage. That leaves public reach metrics and reward totals without a shared conversion figure.
The Rolling 90-Day Counter
GlennHasABeard has made the eligibility gate into a daily log. On September 24, he reported 341,400 of the 500,000 verified Home Timeline impressions required, explaining that each day's result replaces a day falling out of the 90-day window.
The next day, he recorded a 3,946-impression June day rolling out and a 4,251-impression current day coming in, for a net gain of 0.2K. He also said he spaces posts 90 minutes to two hours apart because X's feed code reduces the weight of several concurrent posts from one account.
