X creators report lower Original Content Rewards payouts; one reports $240 for a video with 50M+ views in 48 hours
Several creators said their X Original Content Rewards payments fell versus the previous program despite reporting higher views, impressions, or engagement. One reported $240 for a video with more than 50 million views in 48 hours.

TL;DR
- A viral video delivered a strikingly small first payment: techhalla's payout post reported 79.3 million views, 3.5 million verified views, 300,000 watch hours, and a $240.12 Original Content Rewards payment.
- Several self-reported comparisons were lower than under the prior program: LLMJunky's comparison paired a reduced payment with higher verified impressions and engagement, while LLMJunky's correction put the decline closer to 45%.
- The reports did not all point downward: AIandDesign's reply said its payment had more than doubled from the previous round.
- Total reach is not the new program's cash metric. The rolling 500,000-impression access counter tracked by GlennHasABeard is separate from the narrower qualified-impression calculation described in X's rules.
One awkward detail in the program rules summarized from X's Help Center is that a qualifying view must come from a Premium account on Home Timeline and have at least half the post visible. Repeat views, promotion, and artificial traffic are excluded. X has not published a payout rate, leaving creators with public view totals but no way to translate them into a reliable dollar estimate.
The Techhalla payout
Techhalla reported 79.3 million total views, including 3.5 million verified views, plus 300,000 watch hours. The attached payout card showed $240.12.
The creator later said the prior system had paid roughly four times as much despite about 20 times fewer views in techhalla's follow-up. The figures are self-reported, and the new rules do not make either the total-view or verified-view figure a direct payout calculator.
Payout cards
The first round produced sharply different cards in the same creative community. AIandDesign posted a $261.73 payment and said it was more than double the last round; awesome_visuals posted $70.39.
Those totals cannot be compared as rates. X's model counts a subset of premium-audience exposure, and it has not disclosed the rate or weighting behind a final payment.
Qualified impressions
The September switch replaced Creator Revenue Sharing with a program built around original posts and qualified impressions, as reporting on X's August announcement described. Its two thresholds use different denominators:
- Access: at least 500 verified followers and 500,000 Home Timeline impressions from verified users in the past 90 days. Replies are excluded.
- Earnings: unique Premium-user Home Timeline impressions where at least 50% of the post is visible. X excludes repeated, paid, promoted, artificial, and fraudulent impressions.
GlennHasABeard's tracker illustrates the first number: a reply-heavy day rolling out of the 90-day window changed the count after the creator adjusted the model.
The $30 minimum remains biweekly, according to Posthype's review of the program documentation. What a qualified impression pays remains undisclosed.
X Money and Stripe
The payout rail changed alongside the reward program. TechCrunch's report on X's announcement says U.S. creators moved to X Money on September 2, while creators outside the U.S. continued with Stripe. Techhalla made the same distinction in a reply about European accounts.
