Dustin Hollywood estimates Seedance 2 needs 1.6M credits for a feature film
Dustin Hollywood estimates a feature film would require 1.6 million credits in Seedance 2 versus 2.6 million in Seedance 2.5 at 720p, including eightfold rerolls. He reserves 480p drafts for planning, not final production.

TL;DR
- Feature-length video generation is projected at 1.6M Seedance 2 credits or 2.6M Seedance 2.5 credits, both at 720p, in dustinhollywood's estimate.
- Eightfold rerolls are included, he clarified in a reply; the figures cover animation only, according to his follow-up.
- 480p is reserved for planning in his workflow, with 720p the starting resolution for production.
BytePlus's October 27 announcement adds a Seedance 2.5 4K variant with 10-bit colour. A Sunra API comparison lists a twofold price gap between providers for the same Seedance 2.5 output setting.
776 shots with rerolls
AI filmmaker Dustin Hollywood gives two projections with slightly different target runtimes:
- Seedance 2: approximately 1.6 million credits for 776 shots, targeting 90–100 minutes.
- Seedance 2.5: approximately 2.6 million credits for roughly 98 minutes.
Hollywood has already budgeted an eightfold reroll allowance, a refreshingly practical detail he clarified in a reply. He deliberately chose what he calls the “highest model” to establish an upper-end animation cost, according to his explanation.
480p for planning
Hollywood draws four boundaries around his production workflow:
- 480p drafts: planning and previs only.
- 720p output: his minimum production resolution, using “quality or above.”
- Upscaling: useful for some material, but inadequate for people and detail in his view.
- Model selection: assign work according to each model's strengths rather than relying on one model for everything.
BytePlus describes a corresponding draft-to-final process in its 4K launch post: test storyboards and individual shots in 480p Draft mode, then generate the final output in 4K.
API prices and credit tariffs
Hollywood leaves the provider and credit-to-dollar rate unspecified in his original estimate. Sunra's own credit explanation puts Basic-plan credits at $0.01 each, with lower per-credit rates on other plans; that tariff does not establish the value of Hollywood's credits.
THE LAST ARTIST
Hollywood says THE LAST ARTIST has received approval for production as a feature-length film.
He says in a follow-up that he is working on three films. The 98-minute project that was picked up is “half done,” with its cost projection already completed.
