TL;DR

  • Higgsfield left creators unpaid and throttled subscribers, according to BLVCKLIGHTai's allegations.
  • A former collaborator has also broken with the company: techhalla says he stopped working with Higgsfield and alleges undisclosed advertising.
  • Critics are publicly backing ComfyUI, including dustinhollywood and BLVCKLIGHTai, as its open-source rebuild challenge draws legal threats.

Higgsfield's creator agreement prohibits publishing messages from its Earn team, with pending payouts at stake. Meanwhile, Comfy's rebuild contest includes a prize category that bans closed-source APIs.

Unpaid creator allegations

BLVCKLIGHTai announced an update on “all things Higgsfield”, then accused the company of leaving creators unpaid and throttling subscribers in a follow-up.

That follow-up does not identify the unpaid creators, amounts owed, or payment agreements involved. The posts contain no response from Higgsfield to those allegations.

Higgsfield Earn payout rules

For participants in Higgsfield Earn, the program agreement, last updated March 21, 2026, specifies:

  • Automated rejection: Submissions can be rejected without manual review. Higgsfield can also reject submissions at its sole discretion, and rejected work does not qualify for payment.
  • Payment holds and clawbacks: The company can withhold, delay, or reclaim payments when it suspects fraud, policy violations, or errors, including after an initial payout.
  • Variable timing: Payment processing can be delayed by verification, fraud review, payment providers, or high volume. The agreement supplies no fixed payment deadline.
  • Confidential compensation: The payout formula is confidential. Creators also agree not to disclose their specific rates, amounts, or payment terms to other creators or third parties.
  • Restrictions on publishing messages: Sharing Earn-team communications without written consent may result in removal from the program and forfeiture of pending payouts.
  • Payments after removal: Section 9.2 says accepted and verified submissions completed before removal will be paid under standard payment timelines; unverified or disputed payouts may be withheld.

The confidentiality clause is an ugly wrinkle in a payment dispute.

Techhalla's departure

techhalla said he stopped working with Higgsfield despite its willingness to pay him “ridiculous amounts of money.” He separately alleged:

  • Intellectual-property violations.
  • Undisclosed advertising in campaigns he said violated platform terms.
  • Use of human tragedies and disasters for marketing.

His account describes a decision to stop taking work from the company; it does not claim that Higgsfield owed him money.

Unlimited generation queues

Higgsfield's Unlimited help page documents several mechanisms that can affect generation speed:

  • Standard versus priority queues: Unlimited generations use the standard queue. Credit-based generations use the priority queue at maximum speed.
  • Peak-time adjustments: Unlimited speed and concurrency can vary as the system dynamically adjusts processing limits.
  • Activity reviews: Suspected unusual activity can trigger slower generations, lower queue priority, or a temporary pause pending manual review.

The page defines Unlimited as eligible generations not deducting credits while access remains active. It does not promise constant processing speed.

ComfyUI's rebuild challenge

Comfy's official challenge page offers $10,000 for the best overall build recreating Higgsfield-style tools.

Comfy CEO Yoland Yan said the challenge would remain online after receiving a cease-and-desist, according to The Reel Stack's account of the letter. Higgsfield's letter objected to use of its name and its CEO's likeness, while expressly saying it did not oppose open source or competition.

BLVCKLIGHTai backed Comfy, called Higgsfield a “wrapper company,” and accused it of spending money on “gaming the system.”

NVIDIA's investment

NVIDIA's Kazakhstan announcement confirms that an investment in Higgsfield was announced during NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang's October 23 visit to Astana.

Dustinhollywood questioned NVIDIA's vetting of the company in a later post. BLVCKLIGHTai also urged the FTC and California attorney general to investigate in his follow-up.
