Blender previs
The previz is a camera and timing contract, then the video model supplies surfaces, light, and detail. koldo2k used GPT-6 Astra to generate an interactive view from Lego-like instructions in his reference-video experiment.
His H3 prompt calls the video reference a “LOCKED PLATE” and asks it to retain six shot variables:
- Opening-frame composition and subject scale.
- Camera angle, height, and tilt.
- Lens and field of view.
- Camera distance, travel, acceleration, and stopping point.
- Pan or arc direction, span, and rate.
- Shot duration, easing, hesitations, and timing.
Reference images in HalimAlrasihi's follow-up came from Seedream 5 Pro and GPT 2.5 via Magnific; the video render used Seedance 2.5 through Dreamina.
Seedance as the render pass
HalimAlrasihi says the whole 3D previs can be uploaded to Seedance 2.5 and asked to transform or “restyle” it, adding light, elements, motion, or entirely different characters in his Seedance reply.
The reported economics make the division of labor clear. Astra Light produced the previz in three to five minutes in HalimAlrasihi's timing note, while Seedance credits were about $10 per generation in his cost note. The Seedance guide places camera movement alongside subject, environment, visual treatment, and audio, matching the split between the locked plate and the final-world description.
Scene breakdowns, not master prompts
GlennHasABeard assembled one finished 101-second animation from seven image references, four Blender previs clips, and several hours of editing and splicing.
The full Blender previs runs two minutes with music, giving the render step more temporal material than a single hero shot. HalimAlrasihi said his Astra process began with a scene breakdown covering timing and action, which he then reused as prompts.
GlennHasABeard has Claude create a detailed step-by-step during construction, pausing it for adjustments and asking it to explain fixes, according to his workflow note. In an earlier Blender post, he described that teaching loop as a way to become more hands-on while the scene comes together.
Space battle and interactive previs
Runway's published workflow uses a product image for the style frame, Blender for animation, and Seedance 2.5 for the final render. koldo2k's test takes another route, using Astra to build a custom interface that produces the reference video fed into MiniMax H3.
GlennHasABeard says his next Blender idea is a space battle, because the setup unlocked better camera movement.
