CapCut launches FOLLOWERS Episode 1 with Director Mode
Koldo2k released episode 1 of FOLLOWERS as a CapCut Original Series made with Director Mode in CapCut Video Studio. The announcement frames it as the start of a 10-episode run rather than a standalone short, so viewers should expect more episodes.

TL;DR
- koldo2k's Episode 1 post introduced FOLLOWERS as a CapCut Original Series made with Director Mode in CapCut Video Studio, not as a one-off short.
- The same koldo2k announcement says FOLLOWERS is planned as a 10-part short drama, which is the main thing to know about the release cadence.
- CapCut's Video Studio product page describes the tool as a prompt-and-reference based video generator with templates, style controls, avatars, and AI voiceovers, which matches the production framing in koldo2k's post.
- Another CapCut Original, dustinhollywood's Episode Four post, credits Director Mode in CapCut Video Studio and Seedance 2, showing CapCut is already using the format across multiple creator-led series.
You can watch koldo2k's launch post as a finished vertical episode, click through to CapCut's Video Studio page, and compare it with dustinhollywood's ECLIPTIC finale, which adds Seedance 2 to the same Director Mode stack. CapCut's own newsroom post on Dreamina Seedance 2.0 says Video Studio is one of the products getting the model rollout.
FOLLOWERS starts as a 10-episode run
FOLLOWERS arrives with a more TV-like pitch than most AI shorts. In koldo2k's Episode 1 post, koldo2k calls it "Episode 1 of a 10-part short drama" and says the project was made in collaboration with CapCut Original Series.
That framing matters יותר than the logline. The post positions FOLLOWERS as an ongoing release, with Episode 1 as the opener rather than the whole experiment.
In koldo2k's timing reply, he added that he hopes what comes next lands "sooner rather than later," which at least signals more rollout is expected.
Video Studio is the production frame
The production credit in koldo2k's post names Director Mode in CapCut Video Studio. CapCut's official Video Studio page describes the product as a text-to-video and reference-based generator that can apply templates, customizable styles, AI avatars, voiceovers, subtitles, and auto-editing.
A separate CapCut surface at Video Studio start calls it "the all-in-one canvas for video creation" and notes that Video Studio was formerly the AI video maker. On CapCut's blog index, the company also describes Video Studio as a way to generate videos instantly with avatars, AI templates, and one-click text-to-video.
That makes FOLLOWERS a useful specimen of the pitch CapCut is trying to sell: not just isolated clips, but serialized vertical drama wrapped in a creator toolchain.
Director Mode is already showing up in other CapCut Originals
FOLLOWERS is not the only recent example. In dustinhollywood's Episode Four post, dustinhollywood said ECLIPTIC: HEIR OF DARKNESS was also created with Director Mode in CapCut Video Studio, and explicitly added Seedance 2 to the credits.
CapCut's Dreamina Seedance 2.0 announcement says the model is being introduced into Video Studio and other CapCut products, with support for clips up to 15 seconds in six aspect ratios. That gives the ECLIPTIC credit line a bit more shape: Director Mode is not just a label on one creator post, it is already sitting inside a broader CapCut stack that now includes Seedance-powered generation.
