AIandDesign revises Claude music-video plugin after filmmaker feedback
AIandDesign used Dustin Hollywood's critique with Claude to revise a music video and its plugin. The plugin is available directly while official marketplace approval is pending.

TL;DR
- Human feedback changed both a music video and its generator: AIandDesign gave the critique to Claude to revise the cut and the plugin behind it.
- The second version gained a clearer progression and visual identity, filmmaker Dustin Hollywood said in his response.
- Direct installation was already available while official marketplace approval remained pending, according to AIandDesign’s revision announcement.
The documented workflow proposes three concepts and shows still frames before the full render. Its creative brief explicitly asks whether the video should tell a story or work as a mood piece.
Runway, Hedra and archive footage
For “The Only Way Is Through,” featuring DJ FL-AI and Desiree, AIandDesign combined three sources:
- Pre-rendered character imagery made with Runway.
- Lip-sync pieces rendered through Hedra’s MCP connection.
- Archive.org footage assembled around the performers.
Earlier experiments included an archive-only video and an EDM cut that AIandDesign described as at least 60% archive footage, with only some material rendered in Seedance.
Visual identity, pacing and camera angles
Hollywood, who had recently presented ECLIPTIC: EPILOGUE in partnership with CapCut, flagged four problems:
- The visual language did not match the song.
- The images lacked a shared identity and a progression viewers could follow.
- The pacing needed to follow the track more closely.
- Camera angles were too similar, making the approach feel “monolithic,” as he added in a follow-up.
The revised cut
AIandDesign fed those notes into Claude to revise the video and, more interestingly, the plugin itself.
Hollywood said the result now had “a progressive structure and visual identity”. AIandDesign clarified that this version was still in “mostly mood piece” mode, with stronger storytelling possible in the other mode.
Beat grids and timestamp edits
The skill’s editing instructions describe how musical timing becomes an edit:
- Analyse BPM and song sections, using a beat map that follows tempo drift.
- Cut on phrases, lyrics and energy changes when beat detection is weak.
- Write the cut in
edl.py, with separate project files for grades (look.py) and overlays (fx.py).
After rendering, changes can target a specific interval. AIandDesign confirmed that timestamp requests work, with the announcement giving “Between 0:43-0:56, change so and so” as an example.
A trailer in three iterations
In a separate workflow, creator _VVSVS reported finishing an academy trailer in three iterations. Claude had access to:
- The creator’s video material.
- A sound-effects library.
- ElevenLabs for voiceover.
- The academy landing page and course updates as material for the script.
The editing instruction was simply to analyse the music and cut around its edit beats. For more detailed revisions, the creator also described having AI build a review website where comments on individual moments could be exported as feedback for another pass.
Installation and render limits
Official marketplace approval was still pending when AIandDesign published the revised version. The repository’s installation instructions provide a direct route:
The README documents /music-video-generator:music-video as the invocation command. Its runtime requirements include:
- Claude Code, Python 3.10-3.13, ffmpeg and a GPU supporting OpenGL 3.3.
- Local rendering, which the README says cannot run in claude.ai chat or Cowork.
- A connected video-generation provider and credits when generating new clips.
Development and testing were on Apple Silicon macOS; Linux and Windows fallbacks are described as untested.
The skill checks archive items’ licence fields, flags missing information and adds end-card source credits. The footage-rights documentation leaves responsibility for those rights with the user.
