Seedance users report uneven character and face-prompt moderation

• One creator attributed a prompt flag to character designs they said were inspired by Gorillaz, in Artedeingenio's reply.

In Artedeingenio's Western animation, the creator said getting through the filter still left generation mistakes they could not fix. ByteDance’s August 17 announcement places Seedance among products covered by a new IP-guardrail agreement.

Artedeingenio connected a flag in a stylized basketball scene to character designs “clearly inspired by Gorillaz” in Artedeingenio's reply.

A separate Western-style video from the creator also passed through Seedance’s filters despite unresolved mistakes, according to Artedeingenio's animation note. In another Artedeingenio reply, they identified Jamie Hewlett’s Gorillaz character designs as the inspiration.

These posts record one creator’s outcomes, rather than a published Seedance rule for illustration styles or visual influence.

Underwoodxie96 reported a successful output with face-related restrictions absent, using one picture as the reference for an adult dancer, the room, lighting, and the opening composition.

• A continuous, high-angle smartphone point of view.
• A foreground hand held in the lower-right quadrant, limited to roughly 10 to 18 percent of the frame.
• Directional commands: up makes the dancer rise, down lowers her, and left or right shifts her body laterally.
• Gestures and motion required to begin on the same musical beat, with no independent freestyle.

The attached result is an 11-second, single-angle interaction scene. Underwoodxie96 does not identify the hosting platform or access route in the post.

0xInk_ reported that Seedance 2.5 prompts were being flagged “across various platforms.” When a commenter asked about a particular service, 0xInk_'s reply said the outcome “really depends on the platform.”

An independent ReAPI diagnostic describes four potential refusal layers: a platform pre-filter, an access-route moderation setting, model-level checks, and output review. It does not establish which layer handled the posts here.

The three reports therefore describe different attempts and surfaces, without isolating a single enforcement mechanism.

ByteDance’s agreement announcement says its MOU with the Motion Picture Association covers guardrails for Seedance and Seedream across TikTok, the TikTok USDS Joint Venture, CapCut, and Dreamina. The announcement frames the commitment around intellectual-property protection, not a per-prompt explanation of face or character decisions.

A Tuffer Magazine benchmark guide says XMK’s current Seedance 2.5 page does not support real human faces, including selfies, portraits, and celebrities. Neither the dancer post nor the Gorillaz-style posts identifies XMK as its route.

Artedeingenio also said this two-image, one-prompt music-video experiment used a singer character inspired by Liam Gallagher in Artedeingenio's reply. That post contains no reported moderation result, adding another creative-reference example without turning it into a policy test.
