Dreamina's launch post defines the new baseline: clips up to 30 seconds, up to 50 multimodal references, and edits targeted to timestamps, characters, or elements. BytePlus' Lumina guide translates that into a production sequence: organize references, generate a 30-second shot, then patch regions instead of rerolling the whole clip. PiAPI's API sheet shows a colder surface-level version of the same model: 480p or 720p output, $0.30 or $0.60 per second, and a 12-reference cap on that API.

30-second takes

Seedance 2.5's obvious unlock is the 30-second generation. The better tell is what creators are stuffing into the extra runtime: action choreography, hard cuts, sound cues, continuity locks, and camera paths.

PJaccetturo said Dreamina gave the Nexus team early access, and that the 30-second output saved time and money on a scene from the feature film. The same thread said the full feature comes out next year, with monthly short stories from the Nexus universe in the meantime PJaccetturo's BTS note.

Other first tests pushed the same length in different directions:

  • A tactical raid prompt kept a descending camera path, keyhole pass-through, slow-motion flashbang beat, rapid gunfight, and rubber-chicken gag inside one generation, according to ozansihay's single-take test.
  • An Ottoman siege clip came from one prompt, with visible errors, but ozansihay's launch test framed the speed as the notable part.
  • A diner prompt held a frozen-time collision, 360-degree orbit, rewind, and close-up inside 30 seconds in techhalla's rewind-effect post.
  • An FPV forest fly-through treated the full 30 seconds as one continuous motion path in CharaspowerAI's FPV test.

Nexus anchor images

PJaccetturo's best workflow detail was not the dragon. It was the first-generation frame harvest.

The Nexus process, as described across the thread, had a pre-production shape:

  1. Start with a hook and plot discussion, then transcribe the meeting.
  2. Use Claude to condense the transcript into screenplay format and build a shot list from the revised beats PJaccetturo's script step.
  3. Begin look development in Pinterest, then generate world and character images with Seedream 5.0 Pro, GPT-2, and Midjourney PJaccetturo's look-dev post.
  4. Organize scenes in grids, with characters attached to each scene as ingredients PJaccetturo's scene-grid post.
  5. Run one 30-second Dreamina Seedance 2.5 generation to create coverage and angles from the shot list PJaccetturo's coverage step.
  6. Screenshot the frames that work, then upload those frames back as anchor images for the sequence PJaccetturo's anchor-image post.

The anchor trick is the practical bit: the first generation becomes a scout pass, not a final shot.

Prompt as shot list

The Nexus dragon prompt reads like a compact action scene packet. It names the creature, enemy designs, weapons, location, six shot beats, geography lock, camera style, aspect ratio, and sound design before asking for more chaos.

The reusable structure is simple:

  • Characters: the Mother dragon, marauders, costume cues, behavior.
  • Weapons: muskets and purple smoke grenades.
  • Location: Leviathan Skull Encampment, firepits, snow, skull geography.
  • Scene context: six escalating beats in a continuous rampage.
  • Camera: handheld, anamorphic 21:9, asymmetrical framing, quick angle changes.
  • Continuity lock: the Mother moves through one camp path, with the firepit and skull staying in that path.
  • Sound: skull impacts, grenade hiss, fire ignition, screams, musket crack, no music.

PJaccetturo later put a useful constraint on his own method: strict time prompts were too restrictive, according to PJaccetturo's timing reply.

CapCut continuity loop

techhalla's CapCut workflow turned 30-second outputs into a repeatable chain. He started with three images, then fed the end of one generated clip into the next.

The loop went like this:

  1. Begin with three source images: environment, main character, and bike with trailer techhalla's starting images.
  2. Generate the first 30-second clip from those references, with the current output limited to 720p in techhalla's first-clip post.
  3. For continuity, add the last 15 seconds of the previous video as a reference, plus the character sheet and bike techhalla's continuity step.
  4. Repeat with 15-second reference cuts and load the useful elements so the model has less room to invent techhalla's repeat step.

In a reply, techhalla said the short took about six hours, with most of that time spent crafting prompts because credits were scarce techhalla's time breakdown.

Reference piles

The other Seedance 2.5 workflow is brute-force reference packing. techhalla showed a survival-TV style clip built from 42 image references, including islands, gear, boats, tents, parachutes, and character sheets.

hasantoxr's launch thread described the 50-reference ceiling as multimodal, with images, videos, and audio used to establish:

Smart Edit

Seedance 2.5's editing tests were more interesting than the generic realism clips. HalimAlrasihi used Smart Edit to replace dragon fire with wasps, ice and frost, then flowers, while keeping the underlying motion and physics.

The prompt he shared was short: replace all fire in the video with ice and frost, including the dragon's breath, impact area, and spreading flames, while keeping the original motion and physics HalimAlrasihi's edit prompt. In a reply, he showed Smart Edit Beta in the same menu as Omni reference, first and last frame, multiframes, and Long video Beta HalimAlrasihi's menu screenshot.

Venturetwins pointed to a separate video-to-video ad edit that swapped shoes in a Timberland spot while preserving the original shot language, calling editing an underrated feature of generative video models venturetwins' ad-edit example.

Access, resolution, and cost

Dreamina's official rollout is not universal on day one. Its launch post says Seedance 2.5 starts rolling out in the coming week to subscriber accounts for users over 16 across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and South America, while AIVid's access guide describes availability as surface-dependent across Dreamina, Jimeng, CapCut, Doubao, and API paths.

Creators also saw different doors opening. PJaccetturo linked Dreamina access from his launch thread PJaccetturo's Dreamina link, Luma said Seedance 2.5 was coming to Luma LumaLabsAI's announcement, Pika said it was arriving soon Pika's announcement, and Magnific showed a Seedance 2.5 preview powered by BytePlus Magnific's preview.

The economics are still uneven. QualitativAi said 15-second clips were slightly under 2x the cost of 2.0 and scaled linearly to 30-second generations QualitativAi's pricing reply, then added that three Dreamina accounts showed different generation costs QualitativAi's account-pricing reply. ozansihay said a CapCut generation cost 960 credits ozansihay's CapCut credit reply.

Resolution also varies by surface. Artedeingenio said 720p was the maximum in his test Artedeingenio's resolution reply, and PJaccetturo said the Nexus team sometimes upscales PJaccetturo's upscale reply. PiAPI's contract lists 480p and 720p only, at $0.30 per second for 480p and $0.60 per second for 720p.

Quality caveats showed up in the first wave. Artedeingenio reported a few failed text-to-video results and better image-to-video results so far Artedeingenio's early caveat, while a reposted IG note claimed longer generations were the main difference and that dropped frames still undermined projects.
